A REPORT ON THE ORIENTATION LECTURE FOR NEWLY RAISED MASTER MASONS OF HIRAM LODGE NO. 88

As part of the implementation by Hiram Lodge No. 88 of the Lodge System of Masonic Education, an orientation lecture for newly raised Master Masons was given on September 25, 2009 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Masonic Education Center at the 2nd Floor of the New Plaridel Masonic Temple. Snacks, courtesy of Bro. Edsel Miguel were served from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Among the newly raised Master Masons present were Bros. Edsel Miguel, Melvin Tesoro, Delfin Torres, Jr., Emerlito de los Santos, Michael Masangkay and Giovanni Mata. Bros. Carlo Concepcion and Victor Tribiana could not make it to the lecture. The other Hiramites who attended the lecture were WM Reynato Puno, Jr. and Bros. Julito Sioson, Jonathan Galang, Ramon Nunez, Eugene Dalican, Ric Lumbre, Nelson Manreza, Andy Pantanosas, Amado Amisola, Ed Hashim, Fernando Pascua, Jr., Rino Romero, Rene Sinoy and this writer. All in all, 20 brethren were there.

The orientation lecture consisted of the following topics: (1) "Interpretation of the Ritual of the Third Degree" given by VW Fernando Pascua, Jr.; (2) "Symbols, Emblems and Allegories of the Third Degree" given by VW Manuel Pineda of IMES; (3) "The Legend of Hiram Abif" also given by VW Manuel Pineda; (4) "The Laws of Freemasonry" given by Bro. Andy Pantanosas; (5) "Duties, Rights and Privileges of a Master Mason" given by this writer; and "Temperance and Prudence" given by Bro. Ed Hashim. Each lecture was followed by an open forum.

In line with the objective of the lodge to develop its own set of lecturers, Bro. Andy Pantanosas answered the call and lectured for the first time on the topic, "The Laws of Freemasonry," for which the lodge is grateful.

The activity ended with closing remarks by WM Reynato Puno, Jr. Fellowship followed at the Zigo Restaurant.
